Megan Weber – Vocals I have been singing pretty much my entire life. I began taking lessons at the age of six, which gave me the opportunity to perform at local county fairs, the Iowa State Fair, and Adventureland to name a few. At the age of 10, I was one of five children selected to sing with Kenny Rogers at his Christmas Show held at the Adler Theater, and was asked back the following year to perform with him again. This was my first true experience with a large crowd, and I absolutely loved every minute of it! Throughout my years of singing, I have been involved in a wide variety of talent shows, pageants, and other competitions. Some of my achievements include: All Stars Talent Competition 1st Place in ’94, Mississippi Valley Fair Variety Show Talent Winner in ’95, and took 1st Runner up in ’99, Junior Miss Scott County in ’96, and Miss Iowa National Preteen Talent Winner in ’97. More recently, in 2002, out of 500 contestants, I was one of 15 selected to go to Nashville, Tennessee to perform in a talent showcase event. During my high school and college years, I really wasn’t doing a whole lot of singing. I had been so busy with school and other extracurricular events; singing sort of was put on the back burner. During my sophomore year of college, I was home on Spring break, and went to a local bar with my parents to sing karaoke. Scott (our drummer) and Lee (our sound engineer) just happened to be there looking for a female singer for this new country band they were hoping to put together. I suppose out of fate, this is how the Wild Oatz band emerged. In the beginning, I have to say I was a bit intimidated by these guys. Not only was there a (slight) age difference between us, but they also were full of experience, not to mention talent. With this being my first band, I had absolutely no idea what to expect. I have learned a great deal from all of them, and am having the time of my life performing with them. Being a part of Wild Oatz has been great. The band has definitely brought singing back into my life, and it has also given me great friends as well. Along with singing in the band, I have been (slowly, very slowly) teaching myself to play guitar. This is definitely a work in progress, but I am enjoying the challenge! Country music is truly my passion. Some musical influences include: Trisha Yearwood, Shania Twain, Martina McBride, Sugarland, Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift, and of course my favorite, Carrie Underwood.
